Where 911 came from?

1. It is impossible to kill enough people to end up with no enemies.

2. For every person your military kills, you create 100 more enemies from family, friends, countrymen, religion colleagues, etc.

3. Friends come and go. Enemies accumulate.

The intelligence services call it "Blowback," of course.

Unless you believe 911 was an inside job.

What "bi-partisan" means

Keeping in mind that the "bi" in "bi-partisan" means two, referring to the Democrats as one of the two and Republicans as the other one, "bi-partisan" means: If you're not a hard core Democrat and you're not a hard core Republican, YOU are not included. --L. Anachronism?

If useful at all, hierarchies are designed for emergency circumstances where the situation is clear, usually dire, requires special knowledge and/or information held by one or only a few and a quick co-ordinated response.  And a bad outcome otherwise.  Since this requires accurate anticipation of the future at all stages -- which decays the further ahead you look -- clearly hierarchies have very limited usefulness which spoils rapidly.  Thus, as Sufi traditions suggest, they should never be created as permanent -- and should be encouraged to decay rapidly.  --L. Follow the "leader?" Anti-war Democrats

"We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow," Pelosi told the gathering at the Sofitel, arranged by the Christian Science Monitor. Though crediting [anti-war] activists for their "passion," [U.S. House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi called it "a waste of time" for them to target Democrats. "They are advocates," she said. "We are leaders." ...It seemed that only the antiwar advocates had the power to wipe the smile off Pelosi's face. Smile, Though Your Head Is Aching, Dana Milbank, Wednesday, October 10, 2007; Page A02
