Ominous in Afghanistan

The most ominous thing about Obama in Afghanistan is that Bush at least did us the courtesy of lying about Iraq as if "we the people" mattered. --L. Reichard White, Wednesday, April 07, 2010 5:23 AM

The REAL bad guys?

"...the Security Council passed a resolution...calling on all states to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty and to solve all their conflicts within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty without any threats of force. Well, that particular part of the resolution was not exactly headlined here, for a simple reason: it was directed at two countries, the two countries that are regularly threatening the use of force, the United States and Israel. The threat of force is in violation of the UN Charter, if anybody cares about that stale old stuff, even older than the ’60s. But that’s never mentioned." --Noam Chomsky on Obama's Foreign Policy, His Own History of Activism, and the Importance of Speaking Out, DemocracyNOW!, Monday, March 15, 2010 11:49 AM

Are you an extremist?

Fear the followers!

Authoritarian followers [who do the violent bidding of Authoritarians] score highly on the Dangerous World scale, and it’s not just because some of the items have a religious context. High RWAs are, in general, more afraid than most people are. They got a “2 for 1 Special Deal” on fear somehow. Maybe they’ve inherited genes that incline them to fret and tremble. Maybe not. But we do know that they were raised by their parents to be afraid of others, because both the parents and their children tell us so. --The Authoritarians, Bob Altemeyer, Associate Professor Department of Psychology, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, Copyright ©, 2006 by Bob Altemeyer
