There's an important difference between "learning" and "teaching" - - - learning happens when the learner is ready, "teaching" when the "teacher" is ready. It's more important by far that the learner is ready. --L. Reichard White, Saturday, January 08, 2011 8:59 AM

REAL mind control!
Modern "schools" tell you what you have to learn, when you have to learn it, how to learn it, and don't admit you've learned it till you pass their tests and they tell you you've learned it. In other words, the traditions of modern schooling have taken complete control of what you learn away from you and put it in other hands. This is a tremendous coup. And loss. AND mistake. --L. Reichard White, The HI-JACKING of Civilization, Chapter 24, Going Native, October 22, 2007
I LEARNED PHYSICS WHEN I TAUGHT IT, NOT WHEN I "LEARNED" IT, DESPITE ALL THE TESTS I PASSED. DITTO MY "EDUCATION" CLASSES, TRYING TO TEACH ME HOW TO TEACH.

It's your DUTY!
When you're flying with small children, why do they tell you to put on your oxygen mask first in an emergency?
ANSWER: Because the children might not be able to take care of themselves - - - and if you don't take care of yourself first, you might not be able to either. This applies in a LOT of situations. So, especially if you're going to help others, it's your duty to take care of yourself first. --L. Reichard White, 1998
The exhorbitant costs of "free" government schools
Relative to education especially, money appropriated rather than earned in a competitive free-market freezes evolution, stifles improvement, and condemns our children to deteriorating lives in a deteriorating society. --L. Reichard White, Friday, July 30, 2010 11:25 AM

Child abuse?
We used to pay off the mortgage and leave our kids the farm; now we mortgage the farm and leave our kids the payments. --The Unknown Politician

Pots & kettles
What exactly does it mean when the biggest bully on the block -- the U.S. Government, for example -- calls someone else a "troublemaker?" --L. Reichard White, Oct. 28, 2007

The GOOD guys?
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In December, the United Nations took up a resolution calling for the abolition of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for children and young teenagers. The vote was 185 to 1, with the United States the lone dissenter. NYT, Wednesday, Oct 17, 2007
