The LAW OF UNIVERSAL INEQUALITY:
"No two things or events are ever the same -- even if you give them the same name.
The 'same' thing never REMAINS the same." --L. Reichard White.

What is "National Security?"
"A specious concept that allows a government to introduce and enforce a continuous series of ever increasingly totalitarian diktats in order to erode personal freedoms under the guise of an 'outside' threat." --Darren 'BigD' Groves< C:\USR\WP_DOCS\TROLLEY\BLURBS\BLURBS01.WP6>

Responsibility or blame?
We cannot begin to sort ourselves out until we understand that there is such a thing as responsibility, that it has nothing to do with blame, that blame is a fixed, socially-agreed-upon thing, while responsibility is self-defined, something we choose to take upon ourselves independent of social agreements, and is only as great as we are great. -- Victims and Blame by Dean Blehert

Which is better?
Compromise is what you do when you have to. Co-operate is what you do when you want to. Co-operate is better. --L. Reichard White, Monday, January 14, 2013 9:46 PM

The Liar's Rule of Thumb
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State." --Chief NAZI "Information Officer" Dr. Joseph P. Goebbels

The Goering Protocol
"Why of course the people don't want war. ...That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. ... the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." --Chief Nazi Hermann Goering< C:\USR\WP_DOCS\TROLLEY\KEYCLIPS.WP6>

Just not up to the job
There are periods in history when curmudgeonly behavior isn't up to the task at hand. Now, for example. --L. Reichard White, November 30, 2012, 08:36:54

It's about those international abuse horror stories - - -
A lot of the abuses one hears about around the world are sort of like this: Some awful thing like the "stoning"of an adultress or an honor killing occurs in Iran or India or Saudi Arabia and we hear about it in the West and think that those whole countries are like that. In fact, most people in those countries are more outraged than we are, because its happening closer to home. It's like if a story that some old man in Appalachia had married his 12 year old daughter was disseminated overseas. Some observers overseas might conclude that this is normal in America or that Americans approve of that sort of thing. --Anonymous

Two essential questions for harmonious relationships:
1. "What's in it for me?"
2. "What's in it for them?"
If you can't answer both, until you can, think twice before proceeding.

If they hate us because of our freedom, they haven't been paying attention either. --L. Reichard White, Monday, November 28, 2011 6:27 PM
